Bahamas Visa Requirements

Here are all the documents you need to submit when applying for a Bahamas visa:

  1. Valid passport. Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your return date. Make sure your passport is in good condition.
  2. Two passport-sized photos. Your photo must be taken recently (at least within six months).
  3. Application form. You must fill out the application form completely and with sincere answers.
  4. Bank statements. This document must prove that you are financially stable and can finance yourself while staying in the Bahamas.
  5. Health insurance. Proof that you have a travel health insurance policy, valid in the Bahamas.
  6. Proof of residence. Documents proving that you have domicile in the Bahamas. This document can be a rental agreement, hotel reservation, etc.
  7. Invitation letter. An invitation letter is a letter issued by your family member or friend. The letter proves that someone is waiting for you in the Bahamas and that you have accommodation there.
  8. Criminal records. Proof that you are no threat to the Republic of the Bahamas.
  9. Flight path. A flight itinerary is a document detailing the details of your flight, including the date and time of the flight, the name of the airline, your return airfare, and more.
  10. Civil status documents. These documents depend on your current marital status.

So if you are married, attach your marriage certificate if you have children, birth certificate, if you live with your partner, attach proof of joint bank account, proof you live general, etc.
Remember that failure to complete this document may result in your visa being refused, so remember to collect all documents required by the Bahamian Embassy/Consulate.

How to Apply for Bahamas Visa?

  1. Begin by clicking on the “Login” button, which can be found in the menu on the right side of the screen.
  2. If you haven’t registered yet, please register yourself first. After registering, proceed to log in to the panel.
  3. Once you are logged in, navigate to the menu on the left side of the panel.
  4. Select the “Visa Application Form” option from the menu.
  5. Fill out this form with the required information.
  6. Finally, submit the completed form.

Annual Residence Permit for the Bahamas

If you want to live in the Bahamas permanently, you can also apply for an annual residence permit. You can legally enter the Bahamas as a tourist, after which you can apply for a residence permit that is renewable annually.

After living in the Bahamas for 5 years on an annual residence permit, you can apply for a permanent residence permit.

Note: The annual residence permit fee is BS$100.

Duration of a Bahamas Visa

The Republic of the Bahamas has many different types of visas. The duration of the Bahamas visa depends on the type of visa you are applying for:

  1. Transit visas are valid for 24 hours.
  2. Short stay visa is valid for three months.
  3. Long-term visa is valid for one year.

For visas without biometrics

  1. Three-month multiple-entry visa $110
  2. Six-month multiple-entry visa $110

For visas with biometric data and characteristics

  1. Three-month multiple-entry visa $250

  7. Transit visa $100

The Bahamas visa application fee is non-refundable.

Permanent Residence Permit for the Bahamas

If you plan to stay in the Bahamas for more than 5 years, you must apply for a permanent residence permit. You must apply for a permanent residence permit from the Department of Immigration. A permanent residence permit allows you to live, work and study in the Bahamas for 5 years. However, to apply for a temporary residence permit, you must fall into one of the following categories:

  1. If you have been legally residing in the Bahamas for 5 years on a long-term visa.
  2. If you have been married to a Bahamian citizen for 5 years. After five years of marriage, the foreign spouse can apply for a permanent residence permit or Bahamian citizenship.
  3. If you have proof that you live with a Bahamian citizen.

When you apply for a residence permit in the Bahamas, you must complete a payment of BS$100. Fees are non-refundable. If you receive a positive response, you must pay an additional BS$250 fee for your residence permit application.

Note: Three to four weeks after submitting your residence permit application, you should contact the Immigration Department’s Inquiries Unit directly and ask them for an update on your residence permit application in your Bahamas.
