To enter Bhutan, one must have a valid visa, with the exception of citizens of Bangladesh, India, and the Maldives. After submitting an application for visa clearance through a travel operator, visas can be obtained upon arrival.
Passports only are required for entry into Bhutan for citizens of Bangladesh, India, and the Maldives, provided they are valid for an additional six months. Throughout their stay in Bhutan, they will still be required to pay a “sustainable development fee” of roughly $17 USD each day.
Each person who is not from one of the three countries indicated above must pay a sustainable development charge of US$65. The Minimum Daily Package that tour operators give accounts for this. See the section on the cost of a Bhutan visa for additional information on that.
