Temporary Residence for Iceland | TR for Iceland
People who desire to live in Iceland on a yearly basis are granted an annual residence permit.
The following documents are required for obtaining Temporary Residency permit in Iceland:
- a completed, notarized immigration form with a ten dollar (B$10.00) Bahamian postage stamp attached;
- Two (2) passport-sized photos for Iceland’s Temporary Residency, each with a signature on the back of the print;
- A police certificate valid for five (5) years of residence is required for the Icelandic Temporary Residency permit;
- a medical certificate issued no more than thirty (30) days before the application for Icelandic Temporary Residency is submitted;
Two testimonies of acceptable character.
A copy of the rental agreement or Icelandic temporary residence permit document (if available).
Financial inquiry from a reputable bank proving economic worth.

One hundred Bahamas dollars (B$100) is the processing fee for the Iceland temporary residency permit.
If you own a home in Iceland, you can apply for an annual homeowner’s card.
To get temporary residence permit for Iceland following documents are required:
- Immigration Form duly completed and notarized with a ten-dollar (B$10.00) Bahamian postage stamp affixed thereon;
- Two (2) passport size photographs with signature on the reverse of prints;
- Police certificate covering five (5) years of residence or where these are not expressed, a sworn affidavit in lieu of same;
- Certificate from Iceland Investment Authority
- Copy of valid passport
- Evidence of ownership of property and/or investment in Iceland in the form of replications of conveyances, deeds or contracts; and
- Processing payment of one hundred Bahamian dollars (B$100)
Even though the application cannot be completed until the applicant has arrived in Iceland, there are documents that must be submitted with it. It would be advisable to get these documents, or to seek them, prior to the applicant leaving for Iceland.
Citizenship for Iceland:
- Naturalisation in the sense of being a member of Icelandic society
- A Nordic national will be living in the country for four years.
- In the event that an individual has been a citizen of Iceland for five years and has been married for four of those years, the period will be three years.
- If the parent has been an Icelandic citizen for five years, the period of time is reduced to two years for the child.
- Former Icelandic citizens must reside in the country for a full year.
- For acknowledged refugees, a five-year residency requirement applies.

Work Permit for Iceland

Student: Only foreign nationals who are 18 years of age or older and who have been accepted to study in a full-time programme at an Icelandic secondary school or university are eligible to receive a student permit. Applications have to be submitted before the student travels to Iceland. This type of permit may not be the basis for any application for permanent residence.
In order to work in Iceland, residents of Scandinavian countries must register on arrival.

In addition to obtaining an ID number, you must pay Icelandic taxes.
You have the same tax card as everyone else living in Iceland EEA nationals.
You do not need a special work permit to work in Iceland for three months.
