One of these requirements is that the applicant must have been born in Romania and be residing there on the date of the application; alternatively, if they were not born there, they must have been domiciled under Romanian law for a minimum of eight years, or, if they are married to a Romanian citizen and live with him, for a minimum of five years from the date of the marriage.
Additional requirements relate to their age and behaviour; they must be at least eighteen years old. They are unable to respond to or defend against acts that compromise national security or the rule of law.
They also have access to the legal means of a respectable life in Romania and have not been convicted of any crimes that would exclude them from being Romanian citizens, either domestically or internationally.
They must be able to communicate in Romanian, understand the fundamentals of the country’s culture and civilization, and be familiar with the national hymn and the Romanian Constitution.

When a foreign citizen is working under a valid work permit, the General Inspectorate for Immigration’s confirmation is no longer required; instead, the citizen Visa Center’s approval is required for long-term visas intended for work purposes. Within 60 days of receiving the work permit, you must apply for a long-stay visa in order to continue working; otherwise, the permission will expire.
If you submit a request to the IGI with the necessary documentation, you can extend the right of residence that was granted with the long-term visa. The request must to be submitted at least 30 days before the prior residence permit’s expiration date. A work permit may also be extended, but only in the event that the workspace is kept up to date.
