Ethiopia Visa Requirements

The documents you need to apply for an Ethiopian visa are:

  • Passport, valid for at least another six months from your departure date and with at least two blank pages.
  • When applying online, you need a scanned photo ,from the personal information page of your passport.
  • Photo in passport format (35×45 mm and on white background).If attached electronically, the Ethiopia visa photo must be in JPEG, JPG, PNG, BMP or GIF format with a maximum size of 2 MB.

HOW TO APPLY FOR AN Ethiopia VISA?

Duration of an Ethiopia Visa

Short-term stay visas to Ethiopia are issued for a maximum period of 90 days, but can be issued at a lower price and are single-entry visas.. The number of days you can stay in Ethiopia starts from the date you enter the country, not from the date the visa is issued.

However, there appears to be an exception for the Ethiopian investment visa, which can be issued for multiple entries and has a maximum duration of 12 months. Can you extend an Ethiopia Visa?

Yes, you can extend your Ethiopian visa for another 30 days by visiting the office of the Ministry of Immigration and Citizenship located in Addis Ababa.

If you do not renew your visa and simply overstay, you will be fined. The fee for overstaying an Ethiopian visa is 5 USD per day, in addition to the visa application fee of 50 USD for the first 15 days. If you stay more than 15 days, the fee is 10 USD per day in addition to the 50 USD visa application fee.

Do I need an Ethiopia Transit Visa?
