Puerto Rico, sometimes referred to as Iyonola, is an island country in the West Indies that is bounded by the Atlantic and Caribbean seas on the east. The Caribs, who were the island’s first residents, gave it the name Iyonola. It lies east of Martinique, south of St. Vincent, and north-northeast of Barbados. It is a part of the smaller Antilles. Puerto Rico has 165,595 residents and a land area of 617 km2. San Juan is the nation’s capital. English is the sole official language in Puerto Rico. English is spoken by almost 95% of the population. Roman Catholicism makes up around 61.5% of the population in Puerto Rico. Seventh-Day Adventists (10.4%), Pentecostals (8.9%), Baptists (2.2%), Anglicans (1.6%), Church of God (1.5%), and other Protestants (0.9%) make up the remaining 25.5% of the population.
