If a foreigner wishes to reside in Serbia for more than 90 days, he must apply for a short-term residence permit.Depending on the situation, it may take 90 days or even a year.To obtain a permit, you must have a valid travel document and the following documents:

• Studying or staying abroad, scientific studies, research, internships, participation in international exchange programs, • Family reunions,
• Within the meaning of laws and international treaties Any other valid reason.
Foreign nationals granted temporary residence for any of the above reasons must remain in Serbia for the specific purpose for which the temporary residence permit was issued.Approval of temporary residence will be reflected in the foreigner’s passport.A foreigner may be granted an application for extension of a temporary residence permit within 31 days of the expiry date of the temporary residence permit.Temporary stay ends when its validity period expires, when the residence permit is revoked, or when the state continues to grant protection to the alien or expels him.

Acquiring of citizenship by origin
If one of the parents is a Serbian citizen at the time of the child’s birth, the child can acquire Serbian citizenship through birth under various circumstances.

General visa requirements:

For a tourist trip – a proof of payment for the trip granted by a travel agency.

Short-term stay visas are issued for business, tourism and other travel to Serbia.
To qualify for this type of visa, a foreign national must not stay for more than 90 consecutive days or visit a total of three consecutive times within six months from the date of first entry.
