Philippines Tourist Visa (Temporary Stay)

A Philippines Tourist Visa is a short-term visa, which is issued to visa-required foreigners who will enter the Philippines for:

  • Tourism/sightseeing
  • Medical treatment
  • Conducting business
  • Attending a cultural, academic, or sports event
  • Visiting family members
  • Any other short-term purpose which does not require the holder to work

This is the type of visa you should apply for if you do not intend to settle permanently in the Philippines but only stay there for a short period of time.
Passport holders from many countries are exempted from Philippine tourist visas, while those who need this visa can apply for it at Philippine embassies or consulates abroad.

Philippines Visa Requirements

The standard set of documents that anyone applying for a Philippine visa must have is:

  • Philippine visa application form, which you can  find at the our website.Completed and signed.
  • Send as many copies as necessary (usually one or two).
  • Passport, valid for at least six months and with at least two blank pages for visa stamping.
  • You may also need to submit copies of personal documents.
  • Your previous passport and visa information page.
  • Passport-sized photograph, with the following requirements:
  • Dimensions: 35mm x 45 mm
  • Color (not black and white) White background
  • Recent (no more than three months)
  • You must be looking towards front, with a neutral facial expression
  • Your entire face must be clearly visible, so your hair must stay away from your face
  • Glasses are allowed, as long as they do not obscure the face or eyes yours (no thick frames, no tinted glasses)
  • Headscarves are allowed for religious purposes only and as long as they do not obscure the face.
  • Round-trip airfare or tickets for the remaining leg of the trip have been booked.
  • Proof of sufficient financial capacity to cover your stay in the Philippines (bank statement, salary slip, etc.).
  • Documents proving employment, depending on your status:
  • If you are an employee: Letter from your employer
  • If you are a student: Letter from your school
  • If you are self-employed business: Business registration certificate
  • Payment of visa application fee to enter the Philippines.
  • Proof of registration in the Philippine health insurance system “for long-term stay visa only”

Keep in mind:

  • Birth certificates, marriage certificates, diplomas, degrees and other documents issued in your country of residence must be verified and authenticated at the Philippine Embassy in your country before you submit them.
  • Documents must be in English or Filipino when you submit them.Otherwise, you must have them translated by a professional translator before submitting.However, make sure you know the exact language requirements before translating anything.
  • Depending on where you apply, you may be required to submit both originals and copies of documents.
  • Although not required by law, you should purchase travel medical insurance worth $50,000 when traveling to the Philippines.

Philippines Visa requirements for minors

If a minor is traveling alone in the Philippines, he or she must bring the following documents:

  • Birth certificate of the minor.
  • Valid passport of parent or legal guardian.
  • The Miner’s Battle Path.
  • Travel permit for minors, issued by parents or legal guardians and notarized by a notary public or consulate or embassy of the Philippines.
  • Bank statement of parent or legal guardian, issued last month.

Philippines Tourist Visa Requirements

  • Invitation letter from the company hosting you in the Philippines.The letter must be signed by an authorized person in the company and notarized in the Philippines.
  • Letter from the company where you work, explaining the purpose and duration of the trip and who will pay for travel expenses.
